The ascension is one of the great Christian holiday that is always celebrated on the 40th day after Easter. In 2015, the Ascension will be celebrated on may 21. Christ After His ascension was already in a visible way on the earth, and ascended into heaven. He continues to be invisible in the Church founded by him.
The history of the holiday.
About the events of the ascension is narrated in the Gospels of Mark and Luke and in the acts of the apostles. According to these sources, after his Resurrection from the dead, the Lord repeatedly appeared to his disciples , convinced of the truth of this great miracle, and prepared them to accept the promised Holy spirit. The Savior was erected disciples to the mount of olives, to Bethany, and he lifted up his hands and blessed them. Then He began to ascend to the sky, moving away from them. The acts of the Apostles describe that when the rapture of Christ was hidden by the cloud and to the crowd on the hill came two angels announcing the Second coming of the Lord. The students gleefully went back to Jerusalem and after some time came upon them the Holy Spirit (now celebrated as the feast of the Trinity or Pentecost).
