The Wonderworker Spyridon Of Trimyphunteia
Saint Spyridon of God gave us the land of Crete. This was the period of the reign of Emperor Constantine the Great and his son Constantius. Since childhood Spyridon was a simple shepherd. It was deeply symbolic because the Lord after a time, entrusted him with the rod, in order to guard the flock of Christ. Having survived the loss of his wife, the future Saint was engaged in works of charity: their wealth was given to the poor and the vagrant. For it is from God and received the gift of clairvoyance, the power to heal sickness and only one word to cast out demons. For his pious life, meekness and gentleness, but justice Spyridon was ordained Bishop of the city of Trimifunt. At a meeting held in the year 325 the First Ecumenical Council, the Saint showed a gift in the treatment of heretics. The unusual miracle of the resurrection happened to his dead daughter Irene. The Saint returned to her life at the time, to find out where she hid the treasures of a wealthy person. For the sanctity of life, Bishop was honored during the service in the Church to be assisted by angels.
The soul of Saint Spyridon reposed in the Lord during prayer. Now his relics are in the island of Corfu
The Holy Orthodox Church celebrates the memory Spyridon December 25. He is addressed in prayers in the disease and in various difficult circumstances, especially in problems with housing and job searches.
